NEWS AND EVENTS

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist: We invite all Catholic 2nd graders and older to St. Pius X First Sacrament preparation. Sacramental Prep will start January 2022.  First Reconciliation class will be on Saturday Mornings. Dates will be shared in November.  First Eucharist celebration will be after Easter this Spring.  Registration is online or you may call Cass in the parish office at 757-583-0291 ext. 13.

RCIA: Adults: Do you want to learn about the Catholic Church? Can we help you as an adult get ready for First Communion? We can assist you with these processes. Come to St. Pius X Catholic Church Open House for inquirers on October 5th at 6:30 pm in the Church.  We also invite children  over the age of 7 who have not been Baptized and/or received First Eucharist to enter our Children’s RCIA.  Please call Cass in the parish office for information.

Baptisms: Do you have an infant or young child whom you would like Baptized? Please call Cass in the parish office to register for class and information about the next Baptisms at the parish.

Rising Kindergarten students must have their 4 yr. old shots, 2nd MMR, 2nd Chickenpox vaccine, and school physical prior to the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

Playground Ground Update:   At this time, the playground inspector has been back to review the install and has asked the installation company to make additional adjustments.  These adjustments should be completed this week or early next week.   Although the mulch company has been contacted, there is a supply issue that should be resolved by the end of the month.  The mulch company is hoping to begin their work the first week in October.   We are getting closer to opening the playground!  Thanks for your patience.

We invite all 6-8th Grade to our 2021 EDGE Kickoff Sunday, October 3rd @12:15pm. We will meet in church after 11am Mass. More information to follow. What is Edge?

Drop Off and Dismissal Changes 

Drop Off

• This year, the school doors for morning drop off will open at 7:40 a.m.   For returning parents, the process will be similar to last year without temperature checks and with a few changes due to classroom moves.
• Vehicles will drive up the driveway between the church and school (NOT the driveway between the school and the public field) at a safe pace.
• Vehicles will proceed to the back parking lot and along the perimeter of the back parking lot.
• As cars proceed up the school driveway along the breezeway, parents may drop off their student(s) at the following entrances:
• • Grades 6, 7, and 8:   Sabato Wing Entrance (Stop 1)
  • Grades Early Learners (PreK 3-4), Junior Kindergarten (PreK 4-5), Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2:   Hall C (Stop 2)
  • Grades 3, 4, and 5:  Hall B (Stop 3)
• After dropping off your student(s), proceed cautiously back onto the driveway to exit campus.

Dismissal

• Vehicles will drive up the driveway between the church and school (NOT the driveway between the school and the public field) at a safe pace.
• Vehicles will park in rows in the back parking lot.
• Student dismissal will begin around 3:10 p.m.   At 3:05 p.m., we will stop vehicles coming to park in the back parking lot for dismissal.  This is for student safety reasons.
• Walkers will be dismissed first.  Please remember that parents SHOULD NOT be picking up their Designated Walker students at the Larrymore Elementary parking lot.
• Grade Level classes, led by their teachers, will be dismissed in a staggered manner out the gym doors.
• Parents are asked to wait in their cars until their child / children are called to exit the school.  Then, parents may walk up to collect their child / children.stand near the gym doors to meet your student(s) and take them back to their cars and fasten their seat belts.
• Vehicles will ONLY be directed to leave by rows after all grade level classes have exited the gym and had the opportunity to meet their parents and get into their vehicle safely.
• Students whose parents are not in the back parking lot for dismissal will be escorted to the Parish Hall for our After C.A.R.E.S program.
• Vehicles will be directed by row to leave via the school driveway.   Vehicles may exit cautiously either left or right onto Halprin Drive.   Please pay attention to the cones towards the end of the driveway that designates these two lanes.
• Note – During inclement weather, alternative dismissal plans may be used.

2021-2022 Immunization Requirements for rising Kindergarten and 7^th grade students:
7th graders must have the Tdap and the MenACWY vaccine prior to the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
